“Women: HerStory and HeirStory”

A Scholarship Note From

Ms. Verona Blaine, Chairperson
Embracing Global Women® Scholarship Committee

The non-profit organization Embracing Global Women (EGW) is currently accepting nominations for its 2009 scholarships.

Scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to two current undergraduate females and scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to two current graduate females. The recipients will be residents of Pennsylvania or students attending college in Pennsylvania during Spring 2009.

On Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Eighth Annual Celebration of Global Women at the Whitaker Center-Sunoco Theater, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the scholarships will be awarded.

EGW was organized in 2000 to educate, promote cultural awareness and to contribute to American history through the eyes of women. The Celebration occurs during March, National Women’s History Month. Each year, the Celebration has a unique theme and the 2009 theme is “Women: HerStory and HeirStory.” Each year, EGW considers nominees studying: education, women’s studies, law, business, cultural awareness and international studies. Consistent with our theme, preference will be given to nominees who are involved in history, anthropology and genealogy.

Please mail the completed nomination form to Embracing Global Women, 301 Market Street, Suite 403, Harrisburg, PA 17101, or fax to (717) 230-8855.

The deadline for submitting applications is February 10, 2009. For further information about the scholarship, EGW and the 8th Annual Celebration of Global Women, visit www.egwomen.org.
